The Graves Light, Silver Moon

Painting this after being in the actual light house was a sublime experience. Newly restored, this jewel lighthouse stands in Boston.

Graves Light Super Moon
Oil on shaped linen, arch shaped stretcher, 24" x 14".

Narcisus and Echo

Gifts of Neptune

Stop It!

Hercules fights a lion, someone is in the bottle, and the corkers get ready to stop it.

The Sound
Oil on linen, silver leaf, shaped stretcher, tondo, 18.5" diam.
Painted on site at my dear friend Sara's tiny beach house in West Haven, CT., this piece reminds me of a simpler time. A trompe l'oeil silver leaf frame was added in the studio.

Painted in beautiful Twin Lakes, Ohio, this autumn landscape shows a basket of luscious apples.

Peal Me a Grape

Dahlia
Oil on linen, arch shaped stretcher, 36" x 19".
I painted this outside at Beckwith's Orchard. The dahlia garden was in full bloom, right before the frost. The vase with flowers was painted in the studio.

From Sea to Shining Sea
34" x 49", oil on linen, arch shaped stretcher
My favorite Chatham Beach path is depicted in the background. My favorite stray cat, Hunter, plays on the ledge of the niche.

Devotion and Peace
Oil on linen, arch shaped stretcher, 50 x 25 in.
This gold hued painting is one of three angel paintings. Devotion and peace are associated with Archangel Uriel.

The Gravity of Desire
oil on linen, 43 x 26 in.
One goal of trompe l'oeil painting is to depict objects with incredible detail. Life size representation creates a believable illusion. Carefully chosen objects can tell a story. This one is about the gravity of apples, a wedding garter, and love.

Figs
oil on linen, 43 x 26 in.
This trompe l'oeil painting expresses aspects of desire with images of a groom's suspenders, and some dangling fig leaves with fruits. I remember a quest to find the right kind of wooden knob to paint at the top of the picture.
